Every truck driver knows how important their truck is. Without it their vacations and livelihood could suffer. So they take the time to look after it, making sure it receives proper care and maintenance. They want their rig to perform at its best and stay running for years to come.
However, taking care of your truck is only half the battle. You also need to take care of yourself! For someone whose spends most of his or her time on the road, this is no easy task. If you search online, you’ll find articles detailing the top 10, 25, or even 50 ways to stay healthy as a truck driver.
Health is important, but who is going to remember 50 different methods? How about 6?
We’ve gone through these mega lists and cut it down to a 6 step process to keep your mind and body performing at their best. (Hint: it’s a lot easier than you think)
Safety is something we take seriously at T&P Trucking, so it is important that we help our drivers stay up to date with the latest safety news and practices. With that in mind, on November 17 we held our semi-annual Driver Meeting in one of the dining halls at the new built Civic Hotel in Surrey, BC. It was awesome to be in a brand new facility. Everything was new and the internet speeds were amazing.
You’ve likely seen a semi truck making a tight turn or difficult maneuver, and think “Wow, those drivers are skilled. They must have a lot of training!” True, there are thousands of trained, experienced, and professional truck drivers. But is this always the case?
The findings of this CBC News investigation may surprise you.
We hope everyone is having a great November. As this years Remembrance Day falls on Sunday November 11th, the T&P office will be mostly closed on Monday, November 12th with just a small number of employees available.
The office will be fully open with all staff present on Tuesday, November 13th.
We hope you have a great and safe long weekend.
It wasn’t long after the first elastic band was patented in 1922 that the bungee cord was created and it too would prove to be a useful tool for pretty much everyone. Today, whether you drive a 80,000 lb transport truck or two door hatchback you will find many uses for a good bungee cord. However despite its many uses it IS NOT and SHOULD NOT be used in lieu of a proper tie-down strap.
Here are some reasons as to why:
We will be completely closed on Monday, October 8th in observance of Thanksgiving. If you require any assistance you can still reach us as there will be some support staff available.
We will be completely closed on Monday, September 3rd in observance of Labour Day. If you require any assistance you can still reach us as there will be some support staff available.
It feels like forever since we have seen blue skies or a normal looking sun. With wildfires raging across BC, thick smoke has covered the province and has reached all the way to parts of Manitoba.
With air quality advisories reaching dangerous levels many are wondering how what that danger actually means to them, how to protect themselves, and when will the smoke and haziness end. All of us here at T&P Trucking also wanted to know so we did some research and this is what we found.
If you have ever visited our Langley location, you would have noticed an old yellow ramp sitting in the middle of our loading yard. A few years ago we decided to upgrade it with proper safety railings and a new paint job, but we knew one day it would have to go.
Though that ramp served us well for over 8 years, we were finding that lately, it was needing regular repairs. The frequency of repairs had increased to the point that it needed some type of service every few months. Last month we decided it had ramped its last load. On that note, the whole T&P team is excited to have a brand new addition to our yard – a beautiful, custom built, loading ramp.
