We thought it would be nice to take a break from all of the talk of ELDs and the ELD mandate in trucking news, and examine the variety and uniqueness of the different types of trailers used in the trucking industry. While some trailers only have one specific use, others are quite versatile and can be used for almost anything.
Can you guess just how many types of trailers there are?
Back in April, we wrote an article discussing the challenges facing a trucking company with regards to the implementation of ELDs. Since then, we have been busy in continuing efforts of research and deliberation as to what type of product would be best suited for a small to medium-sized Canadian company like T&P Trucking.
Aerodynamics: The aircraft engine spools up and the turbines start spinning. The rotation of the blades move faster and faster until you only see a blur. Fuel and spark are introduced and what follows is a powerful explosion. This explosion thrusts the metal beast forward and up into the horizon.
You don’t have to go far to find a job that doesn’t come with some type of pre-associated stereotype. Whether it’s the classic ‘plumber’s crack’ or the ‘sleazy car salesman’, it seems every industry will call a certain image to mind at first thought. A profession that has some of the worst negative stereotypes is the trucker. What comes to your mind when you think of a typical truck driver?
With the ever advancing technological world we live in, there is barely a gap during the day that doesn’t involve looking at some type of electronic screen. When we check the news online at home before work, make a choice from the TV menu screens at McDonalds, even checking the latest Instagram feeds on our lunch break – there is always some form of screen put before us. While some of these seem and may very well be a necessity, WE ARE AT RISK.
That may sound somewhat intense. What exactly are we at risk from? Too much Instagram? Are we going to die from looking at our phones? If anything, I feel like I’d die without looking at it. Is there truly a need for preventative measures against our tech devices?
Emergencies come in all shapes and forms and can require a wide variety of responses. From a blown out tire on our highway travels during winter to a class 3 hurricane, we should be prepared and know what to do.
Every disaster requires a different set of skills and supplies to survive it. While you can’t carry around a big suitcase everywhere you go, there are still ways that you can be prepared for a multitude of different scenarios. Here are some simple steps that will help you to be prepared in the event of an emergency.
As we move forward into this new year we can’t help but look back at 2015 with appreciation over what we have achieved. We faced many challenges during 2015, but along with these challenges came opportunities. Let’s look back over the past year to see what it looked like, so that we can understand the challenges and appreciate the opportunities that came from them. Reflecting on these prepares us for what we may face during the rest of this year. What were some of these challenges, opportunities and statistics?
